East west problem in Mehmet Akif Ersoy thought

Mehmet Akif Ersoy, an important thinker in terms of Turkish literature and the Turkish nation, has a perspective on the basic problems in the East-West axis during his time, his way of reading these problems and his solution suggestions are were revealed. Like every intellectual, Mehmet Akif Ersoy was one of the important intellectuals of that time and he who was concerned of the problems of his time. Akif, whose life coincided with the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire, has been in a constant struggle by operating in various fields in order to eliminate the damage caused to his society by the painful process in his country and he made an effort for the progress of the society on an Islamic ground. The West, which had got rid of the domination of the church as a result of the Renaissance and Reform movements that took place with the Enlightenment period, had a say over the states out of the continent. This situation has become the dead-end of the societies he calls Eastern. The West, which has entered a rapid changing process, has put the tradition aside and choosed to go through the modern way and has been shaped itself on the ground of modernity. The West, which has developed in fields such as science, technique, social, economic, and cultural and many others, has become a civilization that needs to be caught. The East, which was subject to a change with modernity, tried to fill the gap of material backwardness and took its the first steps towards Westernization.
