Functional use of +da status supplement in Mehmed Âkif Ersoy's Safahat

Mehmed Âkif Ersoy is one of the important artists of Turkish literature. In terms of both his aesthetic attitude in the language of poetry and the ideas he expressed in poetry, he has left a mark on his age and has become history with works to be read and benefited from in every period. Safahat is the most important work of Mehmed Âkif, consisting of seven books in which his poems come together. This work, which was published together with his poems outside of Safahat, has an important place in Turkish literature with its language and style as well as its content. The aim of this study is to determine the use of case suffix in Mehmed Âkif Ersoy's work named Safahat and to reveal the functional use of +DA case suffix. For this purpose, "How is the work of Mehmed Âkif Ersoy named Safahat in terms of the use of +DA case suffix?" The answer to the question has been sought. While the work called Safahat constitutes the universe of the research, the sample consists of 32 poems determined by systematic sampling, one of the random sampling methods. Poems were taken from each of the seven books that make up Safahat, using the 1-5-10-15… system, so that the maximum sampling was tried to be reached by taking samples from each layer. The research was carried out with the document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods. Before data collection, the theoretical framework for the functional use of the case category and +DA case suffix was created, and then the case suffixes in the sample were marked. The general of Safahat and the seven books in its content (and poems outside Safahat) were evaluated in terms of the distribution of case suffixes. Finally, it has been categorized by looking at the functional use of the +DA case suffix and the tasks of each function. As a result of the research, it has been seen that case suffixes are ranked as follows in terms of frequency of use: +A (21.45%), +(n)In (20.38%), +I (18.77%), +DA (18.7%), 50), +DAn (13.67%), +1A (5.84%), and +CA (1.37%). It has been determined that the +DA case suffix is used in eight different functions, and according to the frequency of use, it has the following functions, respectively: the state of being on the ground, the state of belonging, the state of qualification, the state of being in, the state of being in time, the state of interest, the state of opposition, and the state of limitation. In the light of all these data, it has been concluded that Safahat is a rich source in terms of case category and contains many and various examples of the functional use of +DA case suffix.
