Abstract (EN)

Mehmet Başaran, who has an important place in terms of representing the artists graduated from the Village Institutes published his first poetry book, Ahlat Ağacı in 1953. Although he has put down many works such as novels, short stories, essays, fairy tales and criticism on paper beside his poems, he is mostly known under favour of his poesy. The concepts of the oppressor-oppressed relationship, the class struggle of the weaker part of the society, exploitation and oppression constitutes the main theme of the poems of the poet who adopts the socialist realist understanding of art. It is seen that Nâzım Hikmet has obvious effects on the poetic background of Mehmet Başaran's poems. While adopting socialism on the basis of Marxist ideology, he does not become alienated to the society he came from and melts the countryside and the people living in the countryside into his poetry. In addition to folk poets in the Anatolian culture such as Pir Sultan Abdal, Köroğlu and Dadaloğlu, traces of mythological and fairy tale heroes are also seen in his poems. Mehmet Başaran, by creating a world of poetry both on the universal ground and toward the country folk, deals with the social problems of his period in a unique language.
