Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the conditions that women have the risk factors of breast cancer and their regular mammography screening behavior. In this retrospective study, the records on breast patient evaluation forms filled out by 14.207 women who applied to the early diagnosis-screening center for cancer in Aydin city between 2004-2011 were evaluated between May and November 2014. Data were analyzed using the definitive test, Man-Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test, Pearson qui-squared test, Fisher's exact test and Fisher-Freeman-Halton test, logistic regression analysis. The mean age of participants were 50.50±8.17 years (Min 21- Max 87). 91.2 % were not working, 97.4 % were maried, 96.3 % had health insurance, 74.3 % had education 11 years and under. When risk factors of women were investigated, it was determined that 52.8 % were in menapouse, first age of pregnancy was 21.75±4.09 years, 74.5 % had menarche at the age of 12 and under, 3.9 % had no delivery, 6.7 % had no breast fed to children, 27.5% used oral contraseptive, 11.6 % used hormone replacement therapy, 12.7 had a family history of breast cancer, 11 % had gynecologic disease. There were statistically significant differences between delivery number, menstruation, HRT, family history of breast cancer, manuel breast examination, gynecologic disease history and suspicious mass (formation) image in mammography (p<0.001). In further analysis, the factors which affect the regular mammography screening behavior were education (OR:1,324; % 95 GA:1,02-1,71) using of HRT (OR:1,481;% 95 GA:1,24-1,76), the presence of family history of breast cancer (OR:1,613; % 95 GA:1,37-1,89), breast self-examination (OR:1,221; % 95 GA:1,07-1,39) and suspicious mass in breast (OR:1,263; % 95 GA:1,09-1,45). According to these results, education for regular mammograhy screening to women should be given and the awareness for risk factors of breast cancer should be increased. Key words: Women, mammograhy, the risk factors of breast cancer, socio-demographic features, retrospective evaluation
