Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to examine the aesthetic and functional properties of marble in interior design in detail. The study investigated how marble can be used as a recyclable and sustainable material by evaluating the aesthetic potential of its colors, patterns and textures. The main objective of the study is to emphasize the role and importance of marble in interior design and to reveal its aesthetic and functional advantages. Literature review and semi-structured interviews were conducted using qualitative research methods. The literature review collected current information about the history, physical and chemical properties of marble, its areas of use in interior design and sustainability dimensions. In the semi-structured interviews, the marble usage details and approaches of the determined sample group were questioned. It was revealed that marble has an aesthetic quality with its diversity, color and texture originality in interior design, it shows functionality with its durability and longevity, and it is sustainable as a natural material. With these features, marble was evaluated as an important material in terms of aesthetic and functionality in interior design. In the study, the data obtained through literature review and qualitative analysis methods were evaluated and suggestions were made regarding the current and potential quality of marble.
