Naturel environment and human relations around Tarsus district of Mersin province

The study area is located in Adana in the Mediterranean Region. The site is located between 360 43' 33.8'' - 370 26' 06.8'' northern latitudes and 350 09' 30.5'' - 340 33' 12.5'' east longitudes. Paleozoic, Mesozoic, Tertiary and Quaternary formations are observed in the study area. The Mediterranean climate is seen in the study area. The hydrographic units of the study area are lakes, streams and underground resources. Different ground forms and climatic conditions are effective on plant communities. The city of Tarsus was used as a settlement area 9000 years ago. Economic activities vary by regions as the south and north of the site. Transportation, industry and trade activities have developed in the southern part of the area.
