Özet (EN)

In this doctoral thesis, it is aimed to minimize te infections before and after operation of the metal implants used in orthopedic clinical applications. For is purpose, the surface of the 3 groups of implants, including external fixator, intramedullary nail and hip prosthesis were coated with Ag+ ion doped CaP based ceramic powder. Two different techniques, Aerosol Deposition Method and Electrospray Coating Method, were used as the coating method. Aerosol Coating Technique which was newly introduced in the literature was compared with the Electrospray Coating Method according to experimental studies. Ag+ doped CaP based antibacterial powder was synthesized by wet chemical method and HAP and TCP phases were formed depending on the synthesis parameters. The coating characterizations of metallic implants coated with two different techniques and clinical application was performed. The conditions of the coatings on the surfaces of the external fixators that have been fixed to the patients for different time periods were investigated by using different characterization methods. In addition, after implantation, bone and implant interface were examined in detail.
