Abstract (EN)

Field Research to Assess Risk Factors for Health and Safety in Metal Industry Workers: The İskenderun Example This study includes a survey conducted in iron and steel factories operating in the İskenderun region, exploring workers' perspectives on occupational health and safety, the risks they face, and related field research. Subject: Description of the Research Topic: A survey method was used to determine the occupational safety awareness of workers in the metal manufacturing industry. The survey was conducted at Ak Refractory Industry and Trade Inc., a 120-employee company within İsdemir, one of Turkey's integrated iron and steel factories operating in İskenderun, Hatay. The survey included 112 participants. The survey was designed and implemented for employees of businesses operating in the metal industry. This study, conducted with individuals working in the production department, aimed to determine their awareness and perspectives on occupational health and safety based on their similar work. Using a 5-point Likert scale, survey participants were asked to select one of the following responses for each question: "Strongly Disagree," "Disagree," "Undecided," "Agree," or "Strongly Agree." The data obtained were statistically evaluated. In light of the findings, it is hoped that the occupational health and safety, training, and communication awareness, as well as the risk perception awareness, of metal industry workers will be measured. By analyzing the statistically obtained data, it will contribute to the development of occupational health and safety in the sector.
