A cult-centered view on tombs and shrines: The case of Adana

Abstract (EN)

Adana region, which has a deep-rooted historical past of the Mediterranean, thanks to societies and cultural heritages, it has been a source for various studies. Mausoleum, entombed saint and visiting places reveal the social structure of the society. These places are the places where the people seek solutions to their various troubles and wishes where located in Adana region. and these places some are known nationally while others are abandoned. It has extraordinary features practices and beliefs around these places of belief, interview, photography, sound and it is aimed to be determined with the records and transferred in the study. All kinds of wishes, requests in addition to the extraordinary features of the saints, these places, which are visited for votives, frightening features such as punishment also attract the attention of the public. These features allow communities to meet in these places, to worship, to share areas with votive offerings causes it to happen. Ability to communicate with extraordinary powers in ancient Turks while his qualification belongs to shamans and kams, in the narratives of Adana region, this quality is found in saints is seen. The tomb is a sacred place that has preserved its importance since the first period of the Turks is one of its fields. In the study, culturally grave, grave cult, tombstones and symbols are tried to be explained. Our study consists of introduction, five main sections, conclusion, bibliography, photographs, oral sources. In the introduction, the saint, the theoretical knowledge about the tomb, the aim of the study, in the first chapter, the historical and geographical situation of the Adana region is mentioned. In the second part, the works on the places of visit, tombs, tombs in Turkey and information about these places, in the third part, the tombs found in Adana region and their narratives. In the fourth chapter the tombs identified in the context of various cults evaluated. In the fifth chapter, the tombs in Adana region were identified and interviews were made, the practices and symbols in the graves were evaluated and explained.
