Abstract (EN)
Evaluation Of Paranasal Pathologies On Patients Who Have Migraine, Adıyaman University Faculty Of Medicine, Neurascience Major Thesis, 2018 Headache is a problem which every person does experience in his/her life more than once. Migraine consists of the major part of diseases which causes headache. Diagnosis of migraine is determined according to clinical features because there is no specific examine or tests for it. Besides of the fact that it can be mistaken with pain caused by paranasal sinüs, due to its clinical similarity, the probability of that referred pains and painful stimulants caused by nose and paranasal sinuses plays a stimulating role in migraine has been searched for a long time. Due to misdiagnoses medical and surgical treatments which are not effective could be applied. In order to search whether there are any effects of frequency of paranasal variations and patalogies in migraine patients and these situations on intensity of pain and attack frequency during this research, the cranial imagining computer tomography BT axial images and reformated coronal sequences of the patients consulting to Neurology Department Of Adıyaman Research and Training Hospital and the ones, first time diagnosed according to 2013 criterias were assessed with experienced radiologist. 130 migraine patients of which 13 are male and 112 are female whose ages range between 15-58, were selected. 23,8% of cases are migraine with aura 76,2% is consisted of migraine without aura and 76,9% of cases were detected with paranasal patalogy and variations. The most frequently experienced nasal variations was septum deviations. There was no significant difference found between intensity and frequency of pain with paranasal patalogy and variations. Paranazal patologies and / or variations may be associated with migraine patients. It is known that these patologies can cause headaches on their own or with secodary effects. Even if there was no meaningful result between paranasal patalogies and migraine pain found, this situation could be caused by the fact that the insufficient number of patients, previous experiences of patients and the attacks resulted from these patalogies may have been misinterpreted as migraine attacks. In our opinion by talking the idea that the existence of sinonasal patalogies could exist in differential diagnosis into account, we believe that tha paranasal sites should be assesed in BT examines. We think that there is a need for multi-centered and elongated researches related to this topic. Key words : Migraine, Paranasal Patalogies, Frequency of Attacks, Intensity of Pain, Sinusitis
