The Conceptual analysis of the architectural form

The Conceptual Analysis of Architectural Form Architectural form is product of thinking activity which is known as design. Broadbent, defines the types of design as 'pragmatic, typologic, analogic, canonic'. In this study, these types of design are used architectural form analysis. One more approach is added to design types which is iconic design in this study. These types of design is useful in describing the processes in the act of designing but not enough for interpreting them. For this reason, these types of design are divided into sub-conceptual groups and architectural form is analysed through them with the help of additional texts. At this point, this study is suggestion of a method which uses concepts with the help of analysis of architectural forms. The method is conceptualization. The field study in this study is the examples chosen from Republic period of Turkey's last five decades. This study is consists of six chapters. First chapter, includes the introduction to the subject, the purpose and overview of last five decades of Turkish Republic Architecture. There is introduction of form in architecture in terms of meaning, physical aspects and literature review. The second chapter consist of studies done. There is conceptual analysis of architectural form. There is structure of method, selection of examples and analysis of them. The method has three stages: the first stage is creation of concept. The second stage is selection of examples and analysis of them according to concepts which are conceptualized. The third stage is evaluation of results of concept analysis. There are findings at the third chapter. This chapter has also evaluation stage. Findings, coming from analysis stage are evaluated with ten year periods and general evaluation of fifty year period. The fourth chapter includes findings according to semiology.
