Abstract (EN)

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a process in which projects are managed in three dimensions and digitally.The BIM project process has opened a new era for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry, leaving traditional CAD methods behind. The system which enables diffrent disciplines to work together easily, supports not only 3D modelings but also project planning, cost estimation, sustainability and facility management. In projects, BIM is used not only throughout the building life cycle, it is also used in stages like only design or application or operation, etc. However, using it in a single step in the process also reduce the advantages of BIM. In this context, the advantages of using BIM with sample projects in the architectural design phase, construction phase and post-construction phase are revealed in the study. As a result of the study, it has been determined that BIM can provide great advantages for future stages, with examples where BIM is used in architectural design stage, especially in large-scale projects, which interdisiplinary studies are made and informations are filled completely. At the same time, it was observed that the most effective process is the construction phase but all processes feed each other. Thus, the use of BIM throughout the building life cycle facilitates the process, even in the most complex structures, it also facilitates the manufacturing process during the construction phase and speeds up the construction process with the cooperation of the disciplines. All phases need to be carried out in order for the project life cycle to me maintained effectively. Keywords: Architectural design, BIM-Building information modeling,, Design technology, Technology
