Abstract (EN)

This research aimed to examine the effect of peer instruction method about students' magnetism achievement and willingness for argumentation. For this purpose, it has been used together qualitative and quantitative methods in this study. Quasi-experimental research design with pre-test/post-test control group was used in the study. Sample group of the study consisted of 60 students at 10. Class of Ordu Science High School in 2015-2016 academic year. In the study, Concept Achievement Test and Argumentative Survey were used to collect quantitative datas. Qualitative datas have been obtained by using semi structured interwiew, open ended questions and observations. The quantitative datas were analyzed by SPSS programme. According to thesse conclusions, it can be said that peer ınstruction method is more successful than traditional method. As a result of the test, it was found out that the achievement level of experimental group was statistically significant when compared to control group (t=-10.46, p=.000).In order to determine argumentation willingness of experimantal group students, Argumentative Surwey was used. At the end of application of peer instruction it has been found out that post test points of argumentation have been increased when compared with the pretest points but it has been seen that it is statistically unmeaningful. The data of interviews, open ended questions and observations were analyzed by using descriptive method. When the opinions and thinking of students analyzed, it can be said that increased self-confidence, enhanced comment ability, eleborated the theoric information with discussions, activated participation in class, increased interest and curiosity, learned as permanent and enjoyable at the end of instruction with peer ınstruction. According to the findings of this study some suggestions have been offered. Key Words: Magnetism and the magnetic effect of current, Physics education Peer Instruction Method, Conceptual understanding
