The effect of mobbing on organizational cynicism: An aplication on five stars hotels

Abstract (EN)
All the business managements regardless of type have important duties in preventing negative effects of mobbing and organizational cynicism, which may occur in all sectors and businesses but negative effects mainly felt in service sector, are major organizational problems. On the other hand these issues, if they occur in labour-intensive sector businesses, make the businesses take measures and be more conscious. In this respect, in this study, it?s aimed to determine that five-star hotel employees? effects of perception of mobbing to organizational cynicism so a comprehensive review is made related to mobbing and organizational cynicism, and the application part of the study is made in the five-star hotels which are in İstanbul, Ankara, Antalya, İzmir, Aydın, Muğla and Afyonkarahisar. Data is obtained from these hotels by the survey technic and 936 employee is questioned by this survey. The survey consists of 3 chapters. In the first chapter, individual characteristics of employees are determined. In the second and third chapter, mobbing and organizational cynicism scales are used to determine the employees? behaviours. Reliability and validity analysis of the scales of mobbing and organizational cynicism of the survey is made. In this study, participants? attitudes to mobbing and organizational cynicism are evaluated not only regarding the sub-dimensions of the scales but also using the percentage and frequency charts and mathematical averages. Employees? effects of perception of mobbing to organizational cynicism are tested by varyans analysis (ANOVA) and t test for independent sample if they show any significant differences. On determening employees? effects of perception of mobbing to organizational cynicism, correlation, simple and multiple linear regression analysis are used. There isn?t significant differences according to sex, age, education level and working time Mobbing perceptions of participants in the five-star hotels, but there is a significant differences due to marital status, department they are working, working time in the business and differences in the revenue. There isn?t significant differences according to sex, age, education level and working time Employees? attitudes to organizational cynicism, but there is a significant differences according to marital status, working time in the business and differences in the revenue. As a result of the study, the relation between the mobbing and organizational cynicism is determined by the correlation analysis, and the result is a strong and a positive relation among the variables and it is also determined that the highest organizational cynicism dimension with the employees? mobbing perception is the affective dimension. By the regression analysis in accordance with this study?s basic hypothesis, it?s ascertained that mobbing is effective on organizational cynicism, and the most effective mobbing dimension on organizational cynicism are ? attacks on person?s showing himself and contact?.
