Abstract (EN)

The development of technology over time has also influenced the concept of furniture. In line with the opportunities brought by the conditions of the period, furniture interacts with various fields. This thesis aims to examine the relationship between technology and the design, production, and marketing processes of furniture. The research has been conducted within both academic and sectoral contexts. The study has been structured in two phases. In the first phase, postgraduate studies related to the subject conducted in Turkey have been reviewed. Through document analysis and content analysis methods applied to the selected sample, the academic evaluation has been completed. In the second phase of the research, semi-structured interviews were conducted with furniture companies located in Erzurum. These interviews were transcribed using a program named SONIX, and content analysis was employed to reveal the sectoral scope of the subject. Thus, the subject has been examined from both academic and sectoral perspectives. As a result, it was determined that technology influences all aspects of furniture design, production, and marketing processes. Concepts such as computer-aided design, computer-aided manufacturing, digital marketing, e-commerce, and social media were found to be prominent in both academic and industry-related fields.
