An analysis of Muallim Naci's poems

Muallim Naci is considered to be one of the leading artists of Tanzimat literature. Naci, who made many works in his short life, draws attention with his pen fights. Its controversial identity keeps it on the agenda not only in the Tanzimat period but also in the following periods. Those who raise the subject from Naci, who is a name open to speculation, loudly express two opposing understandings with biased approaches. While some attack him ruthlessly, others want to exalt him. Due to such approaches, Naci's poetry and poetry cannot be presented neatly. The purpose of this study is to make a more consistent analysis of Naci's poems. In the study, first of all, various stages of Naci's life and his way of sensing poetry have been tried to be revealed. The main purpose of this section is to determine the connections between Naci's temperament and art. The second part, on the other hand, consists of two parts which Naci's poems are analyzed. First, the themes that stand out in Naci's poems have been examined. In the last part, Naci's poems have been discussed in terms of language and style. Thus, it has been seen that how Muallim Naci's understanding of art had been formed and in which direction the transformation in his poems had taken place.
