Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, damage detection based on analytical, numerical and experimental methods in engineering structures is presented. For this purpose, laboratory studies are performed on cantilever beam models with box and hollow circular cross-sections, respectively, and plane frame model with reinforced concrete bearing system. In addition, on site experiments are carried out on Trabzon Bastion with masonry wall bearing system. The thesis consists of four chapters. In the first chapter, general information and related literature by techniques are presented. Modal Assurance Criteria, Coordinate Modal Assurance Criteria, Mod Shape Curvature Method, Modal Flexibility Method and Sensitivity Modal Updating methods for damage detection are presented. In the second chapter, the studies performed and findings obtained from the studies are given. This sections is divided into two subsection as laboratory and field studies. In the first part, different damage cases are taken into consideration on the plane frame system with reinforced concrete system, steel cantilever beam model with hollow circular and box section. Change in dynamic characteristics and damage areas are determined analytically, numerically and experimentally for each damage case. In the second part, historical Trabzon Bastion with masonry wall bearing system is considered and evaluated. In the third chapter, conclusions and some suggestions are presented. Lastly, references and autobiography are given.At the end of study, it is evaluated that damage detection methods commonly used in the literature give very effective results in structures with different bearing systems.
