The assessment of Mukâtil b. Süleyman and his narrations (In the conrext of Tefsiru'l Hamsi Mie Âye Mine'l Kur'ân)

Mukâtil b. Süleyman who is known more as a exegete lived in the second century of the Hegira is one of the most important scholars of the period. For several reasons Mukâtil travelled to many science centers and during his trips he learned hadiths from narrators who lived in the same period and he also teached hadith scholars who had a great place in the hadith tradition. Mukâtil b. Süleyman is mentioned by sources as a authority in exegetics rather than hadith. Also he is been considered inadequate in hadith and is been criticized by hadith critics in many aspects. In this study the live of Mukâtil b. Süleyman, his scientific personality and his reliability in the hadith sciences is discussed. Then, in order to evaluate the narrations and mainstay, we emphasized on the book of Mukâtil b. Süleyman Tefsiru'l Hamsi Mie Âye Mine'l Kur'ân. In this context the reliability of the narrators in this work has been demonstrated. Additionally the distribution of the narroters who agree on the narrations in the basic hadith sources are been investigated and it is been identified that most of this narrations are also mentioned in the hadith sources.
