Abstract (EN)
Chlorination is the most common and cheapest disinfection method used in drinking water treatment. Chlorine does not only react with parasites and pathogenic microorganisms in water, but also react with natural organic matter (DOM) in the raw water resources and forms disinfection byproducts (DBPs) which have carcinogenic effects on humans. The most well-known and most frequently found by-product groups of DBPs in the literature are trihalomethanes (THMs) and HAAs (haloaceticacids). Efforts to monitor and reduce the amount of DBPs, some of which are carcinogenic, are of great importance for the protection of public health. The aim of this study is to monitor the seasonal and spatial changes of HAAs in two different networks providing water to Mus city center and to investigate their impact on public health. Within this scope, 4 seasonsexperimental study was carried out. The results showed that despite the level of DOM below 1 mg / L in the water, the HAAs level can sometimes exceed the limit values and constitute a risk for public health.
