Abstract (EN)
The experiences and interactions of people and societies in the historical process have provided the emergence and development of culture. Music, which has always existed in the development process of culture, has existed with the history of humanity, has been shaped depending on the lives of individuals and societies, and has changed depending on the changing needs of individuals and societies. The types, forms and problems of music, which exist together with many elements such as religion, politics and economy, which are the basic elements of culture, have been shaped depending on cultural changes. Economic, technological, political, etc. occurring in societies. Changes have brought about cultural changes and these changes have also shown their effect in the field of music. In this study, it is aimed to determine the effect of popular culture on Harput music, which conveys the socio-cultural structure of the people of Elazig in the historical process, in the context of music sociology. For this purpose, 118 students studying at the Music Department of Elazığ Kaya Karaya Fine Arts High School and Fırat University State Conservatory were surveyed and their opinions on the impact of popular culture on Harput music were received. The data obtained from the interview forms were evaluated by transferring them to the SPSS package program. In the research, the awareness level of Harput music by students in general is quite low, the majority of the young audience listens to popular music works with the influence of popular culture, Harput music and the pulpit are very low. It was concluded that the majority of them listened to popular music works, Harput music and the tradition of Kürsübaşı are on the verge of being forgotten and may disappear over time if necessary precautions are not taken.
