Abstract (EN)

In this study, {[Cu(mal)(Bim)H2O]•H2O}n , [Zn(mal)(1-MeBim)2(H2O)2]n , {[Cd(mal)(1-Meim)3]•(H2O)2}n complexes were synthesized by using maleic acid (MalH2), benzimidazole (Bim), 1-Methyl benzimidazole (1-MeBim) and 1-Methylimidazole (1-Meim) ligands. The compositions of the complexes were determined by elemental analysis. Spectroscopic (IR) properties of complexes were investigated. The structures of complexes were characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction method. The thermal degradation behaviors of the complexes were investigated by TG, DTG and DTA techniques. From the thermal analysis data, it was observed that aqua ligand and uncoordinated water molecules were removed in the first decomposition step. Imidazole derivatives ligands and then maleate ligands were decomposed in the next step, and metal oxides were formed as the final decomposition product. It was determined that the maleate ligands were coordinated to the metals as a tridentate bridging ligand, a bidentate bridging ligand and a dianionic tetradentate ligand in the {[Cu(mal)(Bim)H2O]•H2O}n, [Zn(mal)2(1-MeBim)2(H2O)2]n and {[Cd(mal)(1-Meim)3]•(H2O)2}n complexes, respectively.
