Abstract (EN)

In this study, a series of benzimidazolium salts and their palladium (II)-, silver(I)- and ruthenium (II)-N-heterocyclic carbene complexes were synthesized. The structure of all synthesized compounds were determined by using spectroscopic techniques such as 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, IR, mass and elemental analyses. The structure of three complexes were elucidated by X-Ray single crystal method. The palladium complexes were used as catalysts in the direct C5 arylation of 2-acetylfuran and 2-acetylthiophene with aryl bromides. The arylation reactions proceeded selectively at the C5 position of the heteroaromatic compounds. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of silver complexes were investigated. The tested complexes showed good antimicrobial activity. Also, the enzyme inhibition activities of ruthenium complexes against hCA I, hCA II isoenzymes and AChE enzymes were investigated. These complexes exhibited good enzyme inhibition activities.
