Women and men in terms of gender in Nazlı Eray's novels

Nazlı Eray, one of the important names of Turkish literature, has many voluminous novels that she deals with magical realistic narration and fantastic fiction. The general studies on the works of Eray, who does not limit the extraordinaryism in her novels, are on fantastic fiction. In this study, the relationships between men and women in Nazlı Eray's twenty-six novels are examined. The main purpose of our study, in which male and female characters are handled separately, is Nazlı Eray's identity analyzes about gender. The autobiographical reality that the author frequently refers to while constructing the characters, as well as the historical figures that he includes in the novel, are examined within the male-female category. The identification of male-female identities in gender presented by Eray, who does not adopt a feminist line as a female writer, has been tried to be examined in a wide framework. In our study, attention was drawn to the positions of men and women in the society in Eray's novels. Both the personalities of male and female characters and their emotional relationships with each other were examined within the different fictional understanding of the novels. In our study, which consists of four separate sections, the definition of the concept of gender, its development and its reflections in Turkish literature are included. In addition, female characters with different characteristics are categorized under the title of woman. The same is true for male characters. In the last part, the relations of both sexes were examined under different headings and their determinations were made. As a result of the thesis, it has been determined how the gender and male-female relations in Nazlı Eray's novels are reflected in the fiction. Keywords: Nazlı Eray, Novel, Social gender, Women, Men.
