Abstract (EN)

Due to the many benefits provided by the Internet of Things (IoT) technology, its use has increased in recent years. This technology allows people to communicate with objects, or objects to communicate with each other. In this way, although it provides advantages such as managing objects regardless of time and space, obtaining instant information, or ease of daily life, it also would seem that there are some risks in terms of privacy and security. In this study, consumers' behavioral intentions towards the Internet of Things technology and the factors affecting usage behavior are examined from a holistic perspective. The study is based on the UTAUT 2 model, and the model is extended by adding risk (privacy and security), well-being (emotional, cognitive, and flourishing), and eudaimonic motivation variables. The data of the study were collected between January 2023 and March 2023 using the survey technique. 429 people participated in the survey. It was found that performance and effort expectations, perceptions of facilitating conditions for this technology, habits, and hedonic motivation affect the behavioral intentions of individuals regarding IoT devices. Hedonic and eudaimonic motivation and habits affect individuals' behavior of using this technology. In addition, there are statistically significant differences in terms of perception, well-being, motivation, behavioral intention, and usage behavior of IoT devices according to demographic information of individuals. It was found that the most influential factor on individuals' acceptance of IoT is their habits. According to the education level of the individuals, there are statistically significant differences in positive emotional, cognitive, and flourishing well-being, security risk, performance expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, effort expectancy, habits, behavioral intention, hedonic and eudaimonic motivation, and usage behavior. According to the income level of individuals, it was found that there were differences in the constructs of positive emotional well-being, cognitive and flourishing well-being, facilitating conditions, effort, and behavior regarding IoT devices.
