Evaluation of nevşehir urban landscape via greeninfrastructure approach

Nevşehir province is an important geographical value known for its important historical and touristic character in the Central Anatolia. Over the years, the geological and historical heritage of UNESCO World Heritage in Cappadocia has taken its share significantly from tourism, and it is one of the important destinations of our country with its close settlements. Although new areas have been brought to the city with landscape arrangements over the years in Nevşehir city, it can be seen that it has not been constructed in a system when examined on the basis of neighborhoods. There are also differences between the qualities of green areas. In this study, landscape areas within the boundaries of Nevşehir municipality were examined within the framework of the green infrastructure system setup. Within the scope of the research, 22 neighborhoods in the center of Nevşehir were examined on the basis of ecological and social data, and 5 neighborhoods were selected from them to form an ecological corridor. In the study, which aims to reveal the open areas that feed the green infrastructure with the amount of green areas per person, the system proposal for the creation of green networks is presented in the context of landscape management. Green infrastructure studies and setup touches on climate change, sustainable transportation, rainwater management, energy, rural areas, finance and public health as well as systematic analysis of urban green spaces. In this study, the contribution of green areas to public health and urban economy has been evaluated in the context of water management and sustainable transportation. As a result, it was concluded that the amount of green areas per capita in the five neighborhoods examined did not meet the mandatory 10 square meter standard given in the zoning plan, but it made significant contributions to the green area backbone of the city. At the end of the study design concept to contribute to this spine system has been proposed.
