Abstract (EN)
Gender, unlike the biological sexes, is a concept that reflects the perception of society about the roles of men and women. This perception is transferred to people via socialization and the social life is organized in this respect. In this study, named "Experience of Nigde Imam Hatip Male Boarding School Students On the Urban Area" the aim is to understand the effect of concepts like the perception of gender, masculinity in relation to that and hegemonic masculinity on experiencing the urban space. As a result of the interviews done with the research subjects selected from Nigde Imam Hatip High School students and observations that support these interviews, it appeared that perception of gender is effective on experiencing the urban space. Besides from that, religion and education are also effective on research subjects' perception of masculinity. Research subjects who have understanding of masculinity predominantly, states that urban space should be designed in regard to the gender equality but they act different in action.
