Abstract (EN)

The concept of violence that we face in all areas today continues to increase its influence and power every day. Because of the very close relationship between crime and space, it has made it necessary for us geographers to consider and evaluate violence against women, which falls under the examination of geography and is considered a crime. It is extremely important to investigate and identify the factors underlying violence, especially in recent times, when violence against women occurs. Social structure, demographics, geography, development levels of countries and many other elements can be listed as the underlying causes of violence against women. In our study, the execution of Culture in the small and homogeneous City of Niksar, where culture is more intense than in large cities, is important in terms of revealing the characteristics of the place where violence against women occurs and allowing us to see the factors affecting violence more comfortably. The study was conducted with 350 participants living in the district center. The data was obtained by a three-part survey method that measured demographic characteristics, types and frequency of violence experienced, as well as participants ' perception of violence, and the data was analyzed in the IBM SPSS Statistics 26 package program. In the study, demographic characteristics, economic independence, family structures, marriage forms of participants were evaluated and a link was established between the type of violence experienced and their frequency. Links were found between characteristics such as education, age, marital age, occupation, forms of marriage that affect violence, and violence, and it was concluded that they have an effect on the violence experienced.
