Abstract (EN)

This study aims to investigate the mediation role of school delinquency and violence in the relationship between shortage of qualified teachers and administrators' workload stres. For this purpose, this study is carried out with one of the quantitive approaches-descriptive model. While the population of the study is consisted of administrators working in primary schools, secondary schools and high schools in Turkey, research sample is consisted of 825 school administrators gathered by TALIS. In this study, the answers given by school administrators working in high schools taken into consideration. Accordingly, this study is carried out with exact 442 school administrators, without 6 administrators who did not participate in any survey. Data of the study is acquired with the scales built by TALIS- the scale of delinquency and violence in schools, the scale of workload stress and the scale of shortage of qualified teachers. In the process of data analysis, descriptive statistics measure (frequency and percentage) is used for attendants' sociodemographic information, correlation analysis is used to determine relationships between variables and structural equation modeling is used for mediation model. Moreover, confirmatory factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega are calculated for validity and reliability of every measuring instrument. According to the findings, it is determined that binary correlations between workload stress, shortage of qualified teachers and school delinquency are statistically significant. As a result of the mediation model in the scope of research, it is found that school delinquency and violence has a partial-mediation role with regards to the relationship between administrators' workload stress level and shortage of qualified teachers. Consequently, it is clear that school administrators, who have low-level delinquency in their schools, have lower level workload stress and their need for qualified teachers decreases. In this regard, it is thought that Ministry of National Education can help school administrators decrease workload stress by increasing the number of qualified teachers in the schools with high delinquency rate. Key words: educational administration, shortage of qualified teachers, violence in the schools, workload stress, mediation
