Abstract (EN)

This study includes literary prose translations of four masnavi poems from Nizâmî's Hamse, Heft Peyker, İskendernâme, Hüsrev ü Şîrîn and Leylâ vü Mecnûn (excluding Mahzenü'l-Esrâr) to the current alphabet through transcriptions. These works had a considerable influence on classical Turkish literature. It also includes examinations of these works in an introduction, four chapters, a conclusion, references and an appendix. The introduction emphasizes the importance of transcription and its methods and techniques. It also presents brief explanations of the sections of thesis. Detailed information about Nizâmî's life, literary identity and his literary works is given in the first chapter. The second chapter examines the literary prose translation in terms of form and content. The third chapter compares Nizâmî's masnavi poems and their literary prose translations. The fourth and last chapter, the copies of literary prose translation were described. The method used for the preparation of text was pointed out and the text written in Arabic alphabet was transferred to the current alphabet through providing the transcription alphabet used in the text. The conclusion evaluates the thesis and summarized its data, emphasizing the importance and place of the study in Turkish literature. The references and appendix are also presented. The masnavi poems in Nizâmî's Hamse are among the most translated and anthologized masnavi poems in classical Turkish literature. This literary prose translation of Nizâmî's four masnavi poems provides a fluent novelistic style for these narratives and increases the importance of the study.
