Aging tendency of the population and its effects: Türkiye case in general and Artvin case in particular

Abstract (EN)

Regardless of their level of development. the aging of the population causes significant effects in many areas for countries. In this context, the change of the elderly population in 2023-2032 was analyzed in order to predict what the effects in question might be and the continuity of their effects in Türkiye in general and Artvin province in particular. Technological advances have shown that policies regarding population aging need to be reviewed frequently and regulated due to reasons such as rapidly changing social structure, urbanization and difficulties arising from working conditions. In the study, the effects of the aging population of Türkiye and Artvin were examined together with the elements of poverty, labor force participation, productivity, tourism, social security, stocks market and inflation. In the analysis, the findings obtained were evaluated by performing the semi-log regression equation, population estimation and elderly population rate calculations. The findings showed that the population profile of Türkiye and Artvin province for the 2023-2032 period tends to age as the years increase. In this context, businesses, public institutions, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders of the issue should focus on poverty, productivity, tourism, workforce, etc. for the future. The precautions to be taken from various aspects were emphasized. On the other hand, the necessary information to make inferences about inflation and stocks market could not be accessed.
