Abstract (EN)

This study aims to investigate the potential sinkhole hazards due to the increase in sinkhole formation in recent years around the village of Sığırcık in Sivrihisar, Eskişehir. Within this scope, Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) method and Infiltration Rate Experiment were conducted in the sinkhole formation area. Possible sinkhole areas and expansion zones were identified from the Electrical Resistivity Tomography method, and in the Infiltration Rate Experiment studies conducted in these identified areas, it was concluded that the structures containing gypsum, depending on the geological structure, formed as a result of surface water flows, leading to erosion, and that new sinkholes could also form. In the context of the studies conducted, in addition to geophysics and infiltration rate experiment for more detailed investigations in the region, it would be appropriate to conduct two-dimensional seismic refraction measurements to determine the cause of sinkhole formation. At the same time, it has become necessary to open boreholes and research pits to calculate and evaluate the necessary parameters for determining the ground structure.
