The role of information management practices in the formation of learning organizations: Afyon Kocatepe University faculty of economics and business administration practice

Developments in information technologies are the main factors of globalization which is seen as a general expression of change. These technologies have facilitated and accelerated the diffusion and education of information. They have also forced the organizational structures to change and information systems, which are a unified form of information technologies with a system, have started to take place in organizational structures. Organizations with effective information systems have an environment of fewer official obstacles, stronger communication, increasing cooperation with fewer conflicts and shorter process periods. Consequently, productivity and efficiency are enhanced. Information systems facilitate organizational learning structures and thus allow organizations to benefit from the advantages of being a learning organization. Information systems also contributes to the development of individual talents who believe in learning organization discipline, adoption of the shared vision, modeling, internalization of system based concepts and learning as a team.In this study, effects of information systems on learning organization formation have been studied and influence of KOBİS system, which has been put into practice at Afyon Kocatepe University (AKÜ), on learning organization formation has been studied with a survey applied in Afyon Kocatepe University Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (AKÜ İ.İ.B.F.), inspection of documents and semi-structured meeting method.
