Determining the teacher candidates technological term awareness and their knowledge levels

The aim of this research is to determine the awareness and knowledge levels of teacher candidates. The survey method was used in this study. Data was collected by the ?Technological Term Awareness and Knowledge Level Questionnaire?. The questionnaire included four sections that was developed by a researcher. The pilot study included 97 3rd grade science and primary school teacher candidates. The main study was carried out to 1106 teacher candidates that were studying different teaching programs and grade levels. Frequency and Chi-Square Test were used to analyze the data. According to findings, the technological terms awareness of Computer and Instructional Technology Education teacher candidates was more significant than the other programs. The technological terms awareness of male teacher candidates was significantly higher than female teacher candidates. The technological terms awareness was in favor of 3rd grade teacher candidates and the upper income group. The other findings show that the technological terms knowledge level of Computer and Instructional Technology Education teacher candidates was more significant than the other programs. The technological terms knowledge level of male teacher candidates was significantly higher than female teacher candidates. The technological terms knowledge level was in favor of 3rd grade teacher candidates and the upper income group. In addition, that the technological terms knowledge level of male teacher candidates was significantly higher than female teacher candidates. The relationship between technological term awareness and knowledge level is more significant in 3rd grade teacher candidates than 1st grade teacher candidates. The relationship between technological term awareness and knowledge level of male teacher candidates was significantly higher than female teacher candidates. A scale can be developed to determine the technological term literacy of teacher candidates.Key Words: Technological Terms, Technological Term Awareness, Technological Term Knowledge Level, Teacher Candidates
