The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the school directors' transformational and transactional leadership styles and the students' Transition From Primary to Secondary Education (TPSE) exam achievement according to secondary school teachers' perceptions. Survey design was used in the study. The population of the study consists of 5218 secondary school teachers working in the 158 public and 12 private schools in the center of Gaziantep, in 2013 - 2014 academic year. In taking a sample from this population, non-purposive sampling types was used from the type of unlikely sampling. From the selected sample, 363 secondary school teachers in 19 official and 5 private schools, participated in the research. 350 pieces were taken for analysis of distributed data collection tools. In the study quantitative research techniques used, the data was collected by using 'Leadership Styles Scale' consisting of two parts and developed by Semiha Şahin (2009). In reliability studies, the item total correlation test (cronbah's Alpha) was figured out as R=,951.Parametric analysis techniques were used in order to determine whether teachers' school principals ' perceptions of transformational and transactional leadership styles show significant differences according to gender, education level, length of service school type worked variables. According to the opinions of secondary school teachers and students' TPSE achievement scores, for the relationship between leadership styles of secondary school principals, binary logistic regression analysis was applied. According to the critical aspects found at the end of of the study, results of the analysis of teachers' demograpgic characteristics revealed significant differences for gender and duration of service variables in the transactional leadership dimension; level of education variable in the transformational leadership dimension; and working either public or private school variable in the both leadership dimentions. The binary logistic regression analysis for the relationship between students' TPSE achievement scores and secondary school principals' leadership styles according to the views of teachers revealed that school principals' transformational leadership behaviors affect students' success on TPSE exam.
