Abstract (EN)

As teachers' being the main element in the education system, teachers' attitudes towards their profession in terms of some variables are going to be examined in this research. The aim of this research is to examine teachers' attitudes according to their gender, martial status, professional seniority, types of schools they work, faculties they graduated from, having teacher-parent or not, the number of children they have and choosing the profession voluntarily or not. Data of the research was obtained by ''The Scale of Attitudes Towards Teaching Profession'' which was developed by the reseacher. The scale includes 28 attitude statements related to four subscales, ''value''; ''burnout''; ''indifference'' and ''openness to professional improvement'', which are prepared to determine the attitudes of teachers towards their profession. The model of the research consists of 650 teachers working in schools in the districts (Seyhan, Çukurova, Yüreğir ve Sarıçam) of Adana. The data was obtained in the education period of 2014-2015 and analyzed by means of SPSS. The research demonstrates that teachers who are female; have between 1 and 5 year professional seniority; are graduates of different faculties from faculties of science, literature and education; chose the teaching profession voluntarily have more positive attitudes towards their profession.
