Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to determine the relationship between teachers' psychological capital and cynical behaviour. Quantitive and qualititive methods are used together in this study. The sample of the quantitive part of the study consists of 262 teachers who are working in high schools in the center of Kütahya. The working group of the qualititive part of the study consists of 30 teachers from 3 different sorts of schools. The data of this study is collected via The Psychological Capital Scale, The Organizational Cynicism Scale and Semi-structured interview form designed by the researcher. In the study, descriptive statistics, Mann Whitney- U test and Kruskal Wallis-H analysis were used in order to determine the views of teachers related to psychological capital and cynical behaviour. In order to determine the relationship between teachers' psychological capital and cynical behaviour Spearman Rho Correlation Coefficient was used. According to the findings obtained from the study; teachers have a high level of perception of psychological capital. Teachers who are participated in the study showed the highest participation to the sub-dimensions respectively; confidence, self efficiency, hope, optimism, resiliency and extroversion. Teachers' views related to their psychological capital show statistically significant differences in gender, age, seniority, educational status and school type variables, though they don't show statistically significant differences in branch variable. Teachers participated in the study have a low level of perception of cynicism. Teachers' participation of cynicism sub-dimensions can be put in order top-down as; employee involvement in practicing decisions, factors that reduce performance, disaffection toward work place and negative attitude toward school. Teachers' views related to cynicism show statistically significant differences in seniority, educational status and school type variables; however the results don't show statictically significant differences in variables such as gender, age and branch. It can be assumed that there is a negative, mid-level and significant relationship between teachers' total points of psychological capital and cynicism.
