Investigation of nature perceptions of children in the pre-school period by pictures

The aim of this study is to examine the perceptions of nature of children in preschool period through pictures. The application of the study was carried out with 29 children attending the preschool of Şehit Hakan Karakaya Primary School in Kepez, Antalya province in the 2018-2019 academic year. An interview form was prepared by the researcher as a data collection tool. There are three open-ended questions in the interview form which will be applied to children. These open-ended questions are related to nature-related pictures made to children. Children were asked to make free pictures about nature and the questions in the interview form were asked to the children and they were written to the interview form by the researcher. According to their answers, the nature perceptions of children were tried to be determined. Children in their paintings, nature figures, natural events, animals, people, vehicles, objects, planets, cannibal and giant nature, such as living creatures they thought they might encounter. The most important figure in children's paintings is the human figure and rainbow. It was seen that most of the children depicted the nature as clean in their paintings. Another remarkable result is; children expressing their use of all colors while depicting nature, nature has been perceived as very colorful.
