The problems pre-school and primary school teachers meet during their home visits

In our country, family participation in basic education programs has become more important with the starting age for education being lowered. One of the most important activities in family participation program is home visits considering student, family, teacher and school altogether. Although some problems teachers meet during home visits affect this activity adversely. This study is a descriptive research as a screening model with the purpose of determining the problems pre-school and primary school teachers meet during home visits. The study consists of the pre-school and primary school teachers in Artvin city centrum in the academic year of 2012 - 2013. As a result of this study, the biggest problem that the teachers met during home visits was the working hours. The teachers had to visit parents after working hours and sometimes it would take more time than planned which made teachers uncomfortable. Also teachers were feeling uneasy about going alone to home visits as a matter of safety with the addition of having trouble with transportation and finding the address.
