Abstract (EN)
The research, which was conducted to examine the relationship between mathematics, reasoning and democratic attitudes, was conducted by applying a questionnaire to 485 students from 11 schools at different socioeconomic levels in Izmir. As a result of the analysis of the questionnaires with the SPSS 26 program, the educational status of the father is the only variable predicting democratic attitudes, while mathematics reasoning varies significantly according to the education of the family, class size, and the unity status of the family. There was no significant relationship between mathematical reasoning and democratic attitude. In this context, it has been understood that mathematics education should be structured with different approaches under the mediation of social work and should be built on the basis of human relations. Thus, it can be said that students who are aware of democracy on a universal scale will take the society for the better.
