Abstract (EN)
Career development is a lifelong process. When career development theories are searched, it is stated that career is affected by early childhood experiences and it starts to take shape in time. All the students need support in this process to shape their future. Gifted and talented individuals are a group of people who have interest and ability in certain areas and make up a small percentage of society. It is thought that by developing and evaluating their potentials, their impact on the shaping of social life and the development of the country may be great. They need a professional service to support them on many issues such as developmental problems of gifted and talented individuals, family and environment relationships, awareness of their interests and talents, self-knowledge, development of decision making skills. In schools, those who can accomplish this task by the education they have are seen as guidance teachers. In the study, by using the general survey model, 84 guided teachers working in public and private institutions in Yalova were applied a form with closed-ended questions which require a yes-no answer and a 40-item "Guidance Teacher Special Education Self-Efficacy Scale in order to understand their personal information and their status regarding gifted and talented students. . The data obtained were evaluated; it was seen that the guidance teachers did not find adequate support for the education and career development given to gifted students, and they thought that the studies in this field were inadequate. In the data related to the self-efficacy scale, it is noteworthy that guidance teachers are generally indecisive or not participating in the items related to individual-based help to be offered to gifted students, although their perceptions of self-efficacy are high. In addition, there is another evidence that guidance counselors do not have gifted and talented students and have not received any training on the subject. In the research, school social service concept, duties of school social workers, collaboration of guidance counselors and school social workers, in the task areas and workloads of guidance teachers were emphasized. information about the characteristics, training and needs of gifted individuals were included; The importance of career development was mentioned. At present, the guidance teachers (who try solve all kinds of problems in schools carry out activities according to plans and try to intervene to the individual and environmental crisis.) can't do their own works. Because they have excess workloads and there aren't any colleagues that they can cooperate with in the schools. School social workers can be effective in the career development of gifted students. Because of all these reasons they have inadequacy individual counseling service so the necessity of social service needs of the school has been revealed.
