Investigation of athlete reward policies and success status of countries in the olympic games

The aim of this research is to examine the awards given to the athletes who are entitled to receive awards according to the award regulations by the successful countries in the top ten rankings in terms of the number of medals in the last three Olympic Games, taking into account their continued success, and to examine the relationship between these awards and the achievements of the athletes, to compare them with Turkey and to compare the results of these awards given to the athletes. To investigate its impact on the success of countries. Rewarding techniques are widely used in many parts of the world in order to increase the performance of athletes and maintain their performance for a long time. It is also thought that it is important to invest in athletes in important issues such as training opportunities, nutritional status and health status in order for the athlete to increase their performance and maintain this increased performance. Our research was designed as a qualitative research and the necessary information was collected and analyzed by examining the documents in the field. In the research, in order to compare the sample countries both among themselves and with Turkey, sports policies and athlete reward policies were examined and sections on variables that were thought to affect success and performance in the Olympics were compiled. The population of the research is the 2012 London, 2016 Rio De Janeiro and 2020 Tokyo Modern Summer Olympic Games, and the sample includes the top 10 success rankings in these games (United States, People's Republic of China, Russia, Japan, France, Germany , Italy, Australia, Netherlands, Hungary, England, South Korea) and Turkey. The total number of countries limited in the research is 13. Considering the originality of the research and the importance of the subject, it can be said that this research will contribute to the literature. As a result, reward policies of developed countries; It acts as a contribution to the process by taking into account factors such as supporting, preparing and encouraging the athlete during the process, with material and moral rewards. These countries do not give a lot of financial rewards to their athletes. Despite this, it has been concluded that countries with high gross domestic product per capita (GDP) and development levels are more successful in the Olympic Games, while the success rate in underdeveloped and developing countries is lower than other countries. Finally, in our country, both the local government and the central government provide a lot of financial support to our athletes. Despite these supports, it is seen that the success of our athletes in the Olympic Games is lower than the success level of the countries mentioned in our research.
