Abstract (EN)

Ömer F. Oyal, Ömer F. Oyal entered the world of literature by writing articles in various magazines. She has gained a permanent place in our literature with the novels she has written and the awards she has received (When Magda Returns, 2016 Ankara University Novel Award; Time Stains 2019 Notre-Dame de Sion Prize for Literature; No Place on the Ship, 2020 Yunus Nadi Novel Award). Ömer F. Oyal is the author of nine novels: (The Dream Notebook of the Exiled Soul (2006), The Most Beautiful of the Nights (2007), The Afternoon of the Previous Age (2012), Praise for the Moment of Refreshment (2013), When Magda Returns (2015), Time Stains (2018), No Room on the Ship (2019), A Gift for Spring (2022), The Only Person I Want to Invite to My Birthday (2024)). In addition to his novels, he has written two plays (Flying-Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi (2019), Half of Heaven-Evliyâ Çelebi (2023)) and a study (Goat / The Accused, the Victim, the Enduring (2013)). Although he has a total of twelve published works, academic studies on the author are quantitatively very few. It has been determined that the works of Ömer F. Oyal have not received much attention in the literature, nor has a detailed and independent study been conducted on the narrative techniques in his novels. This deficiency constitutes the starting point of this study. In the study, the narrative techniques used in Ömer F. Oyal's novels are explained by giving examples from his novels. Ömer F. Oyal, who created the plot of his novels with modern narrative techniques, used different narrative techniques in his novels. Study "Introduction, First Chapter: Ömer F. Oyal's Life, Literary Personality and Works, Chapter Two: Narrative Techniques Used in Ömer F. Oyal's Novels, Conclusion". In the introductory part of the study, the development and change of narration techniques in the Turkish novel from Tanzimat Literature to postmodern narration are mentioned. In the first part, information about the life and literary personality of Ömer F. Oyal is given, and his works are introduced. In the second part of the study, first the narration techniques are explained in detail, and then examples from Ömer F. Oyal's novels are given. In the conclusion section, based on the findings, evaluations specific to each novel are made about the narration techniques used in the novels. Our master's thesis study titled "Narrative Techniques in Ömer F. Oyal's Novels" emerged as a result of our technical analysis on eight novels of the author. This study aims to bring the novels of Ömer F. Oyal, an artist who has received awards for his works but whose works have not been studied much academically, under the spotlight in terms of narrative techniques and to bring the artist to the literature by closely examining the works of the artist. The study focuses on the text. Qualitative research method, one of the scientific methods and methods, was applied. For the data collection method, a literature review was conducted first.
