Abstract (EN)
The concept of organizational commitment has gained popularity in the industrial and organizational psychology literature. One of the challenges facing modern community organizations is maintaining employee engagement in the current business environment. Today, employees in workplaces are faced with more uncertainty and decreased job security in their daily activities. Without the certainty of permanent employment, workers raise their prospects in other fields. The increase in the workload in some areas, the difficulty of the working conditions and the job risk reduce the commitment to the organization and job satisfaction as a result. One of these business lines is firefighters. The aim of this study, which is expected to be attended by the Fire Department operating within the Municipality of Elazig, is to examine the organizational commitment levels and job satisfaction levels and the effect of organizational commitment on job satisfaction. The research will be in the form of a quantitatively oriented research. The necessary data in this research were obtained from the Fire Department. A total of 116 employees are formed by obtaining legal permission from the municipality of Elazig. These analyzes were performed using SPSS 22.0 package programs. "Man Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test" were used to compare demographic characteristics and scores of research variables, and regression analysis was performed to test the main hypothesis. In the scale of Emotional Commitment to Organizations, the emotional commitment of older age, married, employees over 20 years and associate degree graduates was higher. Continuing commitment of the older age group remained at a low level. The group with the highest organizational commitment is firefighters, fire sergeants and workers. In terms of job satisfaction, it has been observed that the job satisfaction of married, 21+ years old, primary school graduates is higher. Organizational commitment and job satisfaction had a positive effect of 33.8% at a normal level. As a result of our study, it has been seen that the organizational dependencies of the employees are high, and as a result, their job satisfaction is high. It was seen that the highest commitment was experienced in emotional commitment, and the highest job satisfaction was in the management style dimension.
