Abstract (EN)
In Turkish forestry practice, to operate forests and to arrange utilization have been performing according to forest management plans. Up to 1990's, the main aim of management plans was to maximize wood producing. After adopting ecosystem based functional planning approach in 2008, products, services and functions of forest ecosystems have been serving to community by participatoring, sustainability and multi-purpose utilization principles. This thesis aims to determine opinions and perspectives of groups which are interested in our country's forestry resources and their management. The Istanbul - Princes' Islands Forest Management department and forest sources under its responsiblity were considered as sample case. In scope of this research, local people, forest management chief, technical personnel and civil organizations were interviewed. In order to achieve the research objectives, interviews and survey methods were performed.
