Spatial database in general directorate in forestry and model application

Spatial Database Design in General Directorate in Forestry and Model Application The forests are accepted as one of natural resources renewing themselves. It is possible to keep features of forests by permanent and correct forest management. This kind of management can meet increasing forest product and the other forest function needs of the society. Because of too many data related to attribute and spatiality of this research can cause a lot of problems in collecting, storing, managing, and analyzing data. These problems can be solved by enhancing a special system using computer technology. This system, gathering man power, computer software and hardware together, is a geographic information system. For this aim, the research forest of KTÜ Forestry Faculty, the general area of which is about 8000 hectares, was chosen as a studying field. Data related to attributes of this field are taken into computer system choosing a database model. The necessary analysis were done using a software ARC/INFO a geographic information system. In this study, the maps used and necessary to be used in General Directorate of Forestry were assumed to be digitized. What the data associated with attributes of the maps are, how they be stored and what kind of relations happen with graphical data among them were researched and developed a spatial database model plan.Key Words: Geographic Information System (GIS), Database, Database Management System (DBMS), Spatial Database Design (SDD)
