The role of backdoor diplomacy in mid-sized states: A case of Turkish foreign policy

Backdoor diplomacy is a method of diplomacy aimed at creating an environment for ending hostility or finding a common solution to solve crises between states or societies that harbor hostile feelings towards each other. In this diplomacy, people such as experienced journalists, retired government officials, businessmen, opinion leaders come to the fore. Regardless of their jobs, these actors have common aspects such as being solution-oriented and aiming to meet in a common idea. Within the scope of this study, the role of Jak Kamhi, Şarık Tara and Cavit Çağlar in solving the crises experienced in Turkey and the role of these actors in solving the crises were focused on and the assistance of these actors in solving the crises was discussed.
