Abstract (EN)
The al-jezira, which refers to the north of the territory between the Euphrates and the Tigris rivers, is divided in to three historic regions bearing Arab tribes and Arabtribes' name. These; Rebîa, Mudar and Bekr. Suruc which is the subject of the thesis is located in the region called Diyar-i Mudar." Suruc in the Middle Ages " (11th and 13th century) thesis consists of three parts. Evaluation of Suruc's Name and City's Historical Geography in the first part of the thesis; In the second part, Political History of City before Islam and after Islam; Suruc History in the third part; Socio – economic history of the city was evaluated. Keywords: Suruc, Diyar-i Mudar, al-Jezire, Diyar-i Rabi'a, Diyar-i Bekr.
