Abstract (EN)
The significance of this study lies in its contribution to the literature by providing a theoretical perspective that associates students' absenteeism in secondary education institutions with the socioeconomic status of their families. The primary objective of the research is to examine the relationship between students' reasons for absenteeism and various demographic characteristics, and to propose potential solutions to the issue of absenteeism. The research was conducted using a quantitative method within the framework of a descriptive survey model. The study population consists of 14,586 students enrolled in 38 secondary education institutions located in the city center of Aksaray. The sample comprises 4,487 students selected from 11 of these schools. Data were collected using the "Absenteeism Reasons Form" developed by Öztekin (2013). The data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 software. As the data did not show a normal distribution, non-parametric tests were preferred in the analysis process.
