Investigation of the level of realization achievements on ecology issues in terms of various variables in the grade of 5th, 6th and 7th grades social studies courses in secondary classes: Sample of Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş

The overall objective of the research is to examine what students learned or the level of achievements on ecology issues in terms of various variables in the 5th ,6th and 7th Grades Social Studies Course in secondary classes. In the theorotical framework of the research social studies, the environment and environment-related concepts, ecology and development of ecology, ecological development in Turkey and around the World, environment-related substances mentioned in the Constitution, ecology issues, achievements and teaching activities are discussed. Research carried out by quantitative research method according to screening model. Academic achievement test prepared for data collection is applied to 8th grade 413 students in 4 secondary schools in Pazarcık district and 169 students at the schools of village of Kahramanmaras Pazarcık, in total 9 schools and 582 students at the grade of 8 in the academic year 2014-2015. The results of the surveys showed that students have an intermediate level of knowledge about the ecology and it is determined statistically that academic information of students can vary according to gender, status of parent education, place of residence and family income. As a result of research, it is observed that girls are more successful than boys, students whose mother or father graduated from high school are more successful than the other students whose mother or father have lower graduation from schools and students living in the city centre are more successful than ones living in the village. Moreover, it is determined that there is a significant difference between students whose fathers graduated from primary or secondary school and students whose fathers are just literate, not graduated from any school. It is also determined that there is difference between students with family income is 1500-2500 TL or over 2500 TL and students with family income is 0-950 TL.
