Middle school fiftht-grade examination of the contained in Turkish textbooks

In this study, it is aimed that five 5th grade Turkish Text Books, which are determined by the Board of Turkish Ministry of Education, are examined in accordance with certain criteria. While the new criteria were being created, the criteria of Turkish Ministry of Education and the Ministry Board on the properties on listening/monitoring and reading in those books. In the study, the criteria that were used for putting forth the quality of the books were designed by the researcher as a result of scanning the field literature. The 5th grade text books which are deployed by the Ministry of Education between 2010 – 2015 were reviewed detailly within the framework of this criteria in accordance with program targets, tutorial, language and narrative features, visual aspects and, fort his review, 40 Turkish teachers' (N = 40=), 50 Class Teachers' (N=50), 80 students' (N=80) and 50 parents' (N=50) views were collected. In the study, document analysis method which is one of qualitative research methods was used as the data collection technique, and the texts from the books were interpreted by text scan method. It is seen that the texts are not in a conflict with the general purposes determined by the Ministry of Education. It is determined that regarding the text length, the texts are not effected on the development of basic skills such as reading, comprehension, speaking and writing, are not in accordance with the rules of spelling and punctuation that are determined by TDK (Turkish Language Society) to reflect the properties of Turkish Language, and language and expression characteristics are not qualified to Turkish texts.
